Abohelito Nari o Shishu Kallan Sangstha (ANAMIKA) started its journey in Dhaka in 2000 to help people who are often forgotten—especially women, children, and poor families.
We began our work in a small, remote area called Bhola, one of the most vulnerable islands in Bangladesh. People there face many challenges, but they also have great strength. That inspired us to take action.
In 2003, ANAMIKA was registered with the Department of Social Welfare, and in 2004, with the NGO Affairs Bureau of Bangladesh. Since then, we’ve reached and supported over 50,000 people across the country.
Our work began in Bhola, a remote and disaster-prone island. Since then, we’ve reached over 50,000 people with education, support, and care.
We’ve partnered with the Bangladeshi government on many important programs, including support for vulnerable women, science education, sanitation, and schooling. We also stood by the people of Bhola during the COVID-19 pandemic, raising awareness and distributing protective supplies.
ANAMIKA is also actively involved in relief distribution, providing food, clothing, and basic needs during emergencies. We are committed to continuing and expanding this work to help more communities during crises.
With the support of 450+ volunteers, an Executive Board of 11, and a strong field team, we are now planning mini schools and future universities for island children and mothers. We also teach real-life skills and continue to serve religious and ethnic minorities.
We welcome international donations to keep making a difference. Every small act of support brings big change to people’s lives.
